STEVEN GERRARD won’t rush winger Ryan Kent back into action as he continues to make positive progress with his recovery from a hamstring problem.

The £7million signing was forced off in the first half of the win over Livingston at Ibrox earlier this month.

Kent will miss the visit of Aberdeen and could now be sidelined until after the next international break.

Gerrard said: “Ryan won’t be available for the weekend but he is progressing well. I am told by the physios and the doctors that there is a chance for Hamilton. But I am not sure that would be the right thing to do as there is an international break after it. We will be very sensible with him this time around.

“Ryan is fine mentally. He is in the zone and is doing everything he can to get back.

“He is doing afternoon sessions and wants to get back as soon as he can.

“Knowing him, he will be pushing me to involve him against Hamilton. He is progressing quicker than we thought and probably would be available, but we need to wait and see how much training he does.

“The last time he told me he was totally fine and 100 per cent ready, he wasn’t!”

Gerrard could also be without the services of Brandon Barker at Ibrox.

The winger replaced Kent against Livingston but is now touch and go for the Dons clash this afternoon.

Gerrard said: “Brandon did some training on Thursday but he has a crack on his toe.

“He had an injection to play against St Johnstone and got through it. But the reaction was sore after it so we didn’t think it was a good idea to put him out on Astroturf. It is improving each day and we will see where he is for the weekend. It will be a late decision.”
