Young Boys equalised shortly after the restart through Samuel Kasongo's curling effort from 25 yards, before Danny Finlayson restored Rangers' lead four minutes later after the defender tucked home Kai Kennedy's corner.

Ciaran Dickson's pinged in his side's third from 25 yards to double the visitors' advantage with 57 minutes on the clock before Dapo Mebude saw a fourth goal correctly ruled out for offside.

Mischa Eberhard pulled one back for the Swiss side with 15 minutes to go and Young Boys' Breston Maula hit the bar late into the match, before Gabriele De Donno levelled the scores in injury time.

The result means that Rangers have an away goals advantage ahead of the second leg, which will be played at Firhill Stadium on Wednesday 23 October.
