Scotland star Scott McTominay has been named Manchester United’s player of the month following a sensational September.

McTominay, 22, scored his third goal for the Red Devils on Monday night as his screamer from 20 yards secured a 1-1 draw against Arsenal.

The combative midfielder was also named man of the match in a 1-0 win over Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City and was one of the few players to receive pass marks in a dismal 2-0 defeat at West Ham.

Scott McTominay: ‘Just don’t ask if I regret choosing Scotland’

Announcing the award, the United website read: “The homegrown product is maturing nicely and is capable of driving forward with the ball. His range of passing is getting more and more expansive too and he is a goal threat.”

McTominay is suspended for Scotland’s trip to face Russia on October 10 but will be hoping to add to his 11 caps when Steve Clarke’s men host San Marino four days later.
