Dundee United have paid special tribute to Lawrence Shankland after his Scotland debut - by adding his name to their illustrious international honours board.

The on-form hitman has scored an incredible 15 goals in 13 appearances for the Tangerines but got his name on the scoresheet for his country yesterday evening at Hampden Park.

He notched a real poachers' effort against San Marino to become the first United player to score in a competitive match for Scotland since 1999 when Billy Dodds netted against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

United took great pride in adding their talisman's name to their honours list alongside good company of recent years like Northern Ireland's Paul Paton, Henri Anier of Estonia and Pavol Safranko of Slovakia.

He became, with his Russia debut, the first Dundee United player to play for Scotland since Andy Robertson in 2014 who has since gone on to become one of the world's best defenders.
