DUNDEE UNITED manager Robbie Neilson is set to sign a contract extension at the Tayside club after a strong start to the 2019/20 campaign.

Neilson's side top the Championship table eight games into the season and is set to be rewarded by the Tannadice heirarchy with a new deal.

Neilson told the Scottish Sun: "We have had a chat about my contract and hope to make an announcement towards the end of this week.

"I am really happy at United and everything is agreed. It is just over a year since I took the job here and I am enjoying it.

"I have a great relationship with the sporting director Tony Asghar and we both have the same ambitions for United.

"It is a long-term project at United and I want to be here to see it through."
