NEARLY two thousand Scots turned out to get a glimpse of the Henri Delauney Cup as the European Championships trophy toured the north of Scotland.

More than 1,100 fans attended the Dundee leg of the exhibition to see the famous trophy while over 800 football supporters visited the showing in Inverness.

The trophy will continue to be paraded around Scotland, with Aberdeen and Edinburgh the next destinations.

Minister for Public Health, Sport and Wellbeing Joe FitzPatrick said: "It’s so exciting to have this trophy touring all over Scotland. It’s the trophy which has been used since 1960, so it’s coming up for its 60th anniversary.

"It’s great that Scotland is part of this fantastic competition, and it’s really important that people across the country can feel part of it."

Next summer's European Championships will be held all across Europe to mark the 60th anniversary of the tournament, with four matches scheduled to take place at Hampden.
