Ange Postecoglou is hopeful Giorgos Giakoumakis will feature for Celtic against Morton - but revealed Cameron Carter-Vickers will likely be rested.

The Celtic boss was without the duo for the comfortable win over St Mirren with Alexandro Bernabei also not featuring in the matchday squad at Parkhead.

However, Postecoglou eased concerns over any injury troubles for the trio.

Instead, he revealed Giakoumakis and Carter-Vickers could return for Saturday and Bernabei was rested after featuring in recent matches.

Postecoglou did go on to admit that Carter-Vickers will likely still be rested this weekend even if he is available.

Discussing squad fitness, the Celtic boss explained: “Giakoumakis and Carter-Vickers pulled up sore from the weekend.

“At a stretch, Giako might be available for Saturday. Cam probably will be, but we’ll probably still rest him for Saturday even though it’s nothing significant.

“Berna, I just thought I’d rest him tonight because he’s had two big games. He’ll be back in on Saturday.”

Speculation continues to mount over a transfer exit for Giakoumakis this month - but Postecoglou denied the Greek striker missed out due to an imminent departure.

Asked if Giakoumakis would still be at Celtic come Saturday, Postecoglou said: “I see no reason why not. I just deal with what is in front of me, and until I’m told otherwise or something significant happens…

“He was here tonight mate, so you could have asked him yourself! He’s still very much part of our set-up, I’m not playing ducks and drakes.

“He would have been involved tonight if he wasn’t injured.”
