CALLUM DAVIDSON has confirmed St Johnstone will be 'active' in the closing stages of the January transfer window.

But the Perth boss refused to be drawn on the six-figure bid for Ross County striker Jordan White as he seeks to bolster his Saints squad in the coming days.

White came off the bench on the hour mark on Saturday as County were held to a goalless draw by Hamilton Accies and dumped from the Scottish Cup on penalties.

Davidson saw his side also exit the competition as Borna Barisic fired home the only goal of the game to secure a narrow win for Rangers at McDiarmid Park.

The Saints return to Premiership duty with a trip to Ibrox this weekend and face a crucial run of fixtures as they attempt to move themselves away from the top flight relegation battle.

The addition of new faces would be a welcome boost for Davidson in that regard but Saints gaffer admits he is unsure how many deals he will look to do before the close of business.

Davidson said: "We are constantly active in the market and there a lot of things going on behind the scenes.

"I won’t talk about individual players but we are actively trying to do something in the market.

"Obviously we have a big three or four months coming up and we are trying to strengthen the squad if we can.

"I’m not sure how many. You see the performances of Dan Phillips and Cammy MacPherson on there - it was like two new players.

"Dan has been struggling with injury and he wants to play. Cammy has missed the whole season and I will have Murray Davidson back too.

"If they can play like they did today then there will maybe only one or two coming in."
