Charlie McCann has completed a transfer move to Forest Green Rovers from Rangers.

The 20-year-old has signed a long-term contract with the English League One club after an undisclosed fee was agreed between the clubs.

McCann - who had made eight first-team appearances for Rangers - has been called up by the Northern Ireland national team and featured for the under-21 side.

Now, he is aiming for increased game time with Rovers having sealed an exit from Ibrox this month.

Rangers negotiated a significant sell-on fee as part of the deal while also holding "return options and matching rights" on McCann for the future.

On making the move, McCann said: “It feels great to have signed. I’m delighted to get it over the line and I can’t wait to get started.

“Hopefully I can start getting minutes under my belt very soon.”

Rovers head of performance and recruitment Stevie Grieve added: “We are delighted to welcome Charlie to the club.

“He is an absolutely outstanding talent, who we will work with to develop for the future.

“He has demonstrated maturity and conviction to make the decision to come to Forest Green. We can’t wait to work with him.”

A Rangers statement read: "Rangers today wish Charlie McCann the very best for the next stage of his career as he departs for Forest Green Rovers for an undisclosed fee.

"The 20 year-old Northern Ireland international joined Gers from Manchester United in the summer of 2021 as an addition to the B Team, and he progressed from there to make eight appearances for the Ibrox first-team.

"In addition to the undisclosed transfer fee, Rangers have retained a significant future sell-on percentage, as well as return options and matching rights on Charlie for the future."
