Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer insisted their win in Lazio was the biggest game of his career so far as he paid tribute to the club’s supporters.
The 21-year-old is preparing for Norway’s Euro 2020 double-header against the Faroe Islands and Malta, where they have a very slim chance of qualifying directly for the finals.
But Ajer admitted he was still on a high after last week’s stunning 2-1 Europa League win in Rome against the Serie A high-fliers which clinched qualification for the knockout stages with two games to go.

He said: “It’s probably the biggest occasion I’ve been involved in. Winning in Rome with 9,000 Celtic fans behind the goal was absolutely crazy.
“Qualifying there and moving on to the next round was completely wrong!
“At Celtic we have the world’s best supporters who travel around the world and support us everywhere.
“But qualifying from the group with two games to spare is an insanely great achievement for us. It’s very important we continue to perform well now.”
And Ajer is hoping for a Euro 2020 miracle for his country. Norway need to win both games and hope Romania and Sweden draw and the Faroes defeat the Swedes for them to qualify directly.

But Ajer said: “Obviously, it goes without saying we must get six points, but you never know in football. Anything can happen and there have been bigger shocks than that in the past.
“The Faroes have done well against other teams, they played unbelievably well at home to Spain. We have to be ready in case the door opens.
“If that doesn’t happen, we still have the play-offs in March to go to. So it’s still a very exciting time for the national team.”
