SCOTTISH athletics star Laura Muir has broken her own Scottish record after achieveing a Personal Best time of 1.59.50 at the Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland.

Muir clocked the fastest-ever time for a Scot over 800 metres at the IAAF World Indoor Tour on Wednesday evening and missed out on first place by finishing one hundreth of a second behind Ethiopia's Habitram Alemu.

Muir's mark was 0.19 seconds better than her previous record, set at the Scottish Indoor Championships last year, and the 25-year-old is set to compete in the 3000 metres at this weekend's British Championships held in Birmingham.

Muir will have the chance to compete on home soil next month at the European Indoor Championship, which will be held at Glasgow's Emirates Arena.
