Some of the musicians on Tuesday night’s bill had quite possibly never met before, let alone played together, which undoubtedly added to the excitement of the music as well as underlining Hyman’s skills.

Following his piano extravaganza on Sunday night, Dick Hyman returned to The Hub on Tuesday evening for a concert that showcased his equally prodigious talents as an arranger and a bandleader – one who can whip even the most ragtag bunch of star soloists into a tight, working unit.
