This Saturday is Record Store Day 2012, and it's full of homegrown pop action, from limited-edition vinyl cuts (Belle And Sebastian, Django Django, King Creosote and Jon Hopkins) to in-store gigs (see below).

Glasgow's Monorail Music is set for a family-friendly day with performances by Edwyn Collins, pictured (he'll release a career-spanning 7in box set, with signed postcards), Malcolm Middleton's epic-pop alter-ego Human Don't Be Angry (his brand-new album will be available on vinyl), Organs Of Love and Linden – plus DJs Keith McIvor (Twitch), Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai) and Gerard Love (Lightships/Teenage Fanclub).

Love Music will welcome French Wives, White Heath, Woodenbox and Admiral Fallow (who will have special RSD vinyl copies of their debut album, Boots Met My Face). That's Entertainment and Rubadub will also partake in Glasgow RSD action.

Edinburgh's Avalanche Records promises in-store euphoria from thrash-folk genius Withered Hand and indie-poets Ballboy, before taking their party to the Electric Circus for a gig from folk melodists The Last Battle and Americana heartbreakers Star Wheel Press. Vox, meanwhile, promises some stellar talent in the shape of indie-rock tearaways Paws and jaw-dropping troubadour Neil Pennycook. Underground Solu'shn will serve up vinyl-only DJ sets from a couple of Scottish Album of the Year Award nominees: 6th Borough Project's Craig Smith and FOUND's River Of Slime, and, if traditional folk is more your bag, Coda has a day of performances planned.

Other participating stores include Imperial (Inverness), One Up (Aberdeen), Grooves (Orkney), Apollo (Paisley), Concorde (Perth), Rhythmic (Greenock), Spence's (Hawick) and Europa (Stirling – see main piece).
