Leading Irish accordionist MáirtÃn O'Connor's group with fiddler Cathal Hayden and guitarist Seamie O'Dowd tops the bill at the Newton Stewart Traditional and Acoustic Music Festival, which takes place in the Dumfries & Galloway town on July 10 and 11.
Among the other attractions are singers Claire Hastings & Robyn Stapleton, the BBC Radio Scotland Traditional Musician of the Year 2015 and 2014 respectively, mandolin-guitar duo Laura Beth Salter & Jenn Butterworth, and the Jones Family featuring Claire Mann.

The Scots Fiddle Festival, which has been staged annually in Edinburgh since 1996, is promoting a fundraising concert on Tuesday, June 9 at 7:30pm. The concert is headlined by internationally acclaimed Scots-American fiddle-cello duo Alasdair Fraser & Natalie Haas (pictured) and features support from the Edinburgh-based pairing of fiddler Eilidh Steel and guitarist Mark Neal. It takes place at the Pleasance Theatre in Edinburgh and tickets are available now. This year's festival will run from November 20-22.

Manchester-based Irish fiddler Emma Sweeney, instrumental duo Mairearad Green & Anna Massie, singer Pauline Alexander and the BBC Young Folk award-winners, the Mischa Macpherson Trio are among the attractions lined up for Arran Folk Festival, which runs from Friday June 5 to Sunday June 7. The music starts at noon on Friday with an afternoon-long welcoming open session at the Douglas Hotel in Brodick and continues through the weekend until late on Sunday evening.

The Martin Scorcese Presents: Masterpieces of Polish Cinema season that has been running through May at Edinburgh Filmhouse arrives in a compact form at Glasgow Film Theatre next month. The five selected films are 1958 post-WW2 films from 1958 Andrzej Wadja's Ashes and Diamonds and Andrzej Munk's Eroica, Jerzy Kawalerowicz's 1959 Night Train, Wojciech Jerzy Has's Napoleonic adventure The Saragossa Manuscript, from 1965, and Krzysztof Kieslowski's A Short Film About Killing (1988).
The cinema's Sound and Vision season continues with screenings of The Damned: Don't You Wish That We Were Dead on June 13 and Test Dept: DS30 on June 19, when band members Angus Farquhar, Graham Cunnington and Paul Jamrozy will be in attendance.
