l The National Theatre of Scotland's latest project underlines its commitment to reaching every corner of Scotland and has been steered by Wils Wilson, the director of the globally successful Strange Undoing of Prudentia Hart. Ignition has attempted, over the past six months, to engage all the inhabitants of the Shetland Isles to consider their relationship with the automobile. The project, in association with Shetland Arts and backed by £167,000 from Creative Scotland, has included a Hitchhiker in Residence, mobile Sunday teas, a piece of music inspired by the road from Sumburgh to Skaw, and the creation of a knitted car. It will culminate in evening performances from March 20 to 29 at Brae, Bigton and Yell, with a grand finale at Brae on March 30.
l The varied programme at the Gaiety in Ayr embraces memories of glam rock next month with tribute band T*Rextasy bringing their show I Love To Boogie to the reopened theatre on March 14. The band's Marc Bolan goes under the moniker of Danielz and the group has now been performing for over 20 years, rather longer than their inspiration, who were at their zenith over 40 years ago.
