l Moray West, who is now 18 and was described by Simon Cowell as "probably the best singer I've ever heard" when he recruited him for his choir-boy group Angelis, is releasing an album of recordings he made as an 11-year-old boy treble.

Scotland Boy, which also features the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and conductors David Danzmayr, Christopher Bell and Tim Dean, will raise funds to support the care of Ciaran Pryce, a colleague of West's in the NYCoS National Boys Choir who was left paralysed a rugby injury. The album includes classics by Bach, Mozart, Purcell and Mendelssohn, Scots songs, and one written for West by his father, music teacher and former principal cor anglais with the RSNO, Stephen West. The album is available to order via the Amazon website and will be on general release from April 8. www.scotdisc.co.uk
