Livewire Virginian bluegrass outfit The Hot Seats place great store by honouring fans' wishes.

So much so that the band, who hold a Bank of Scotland Herald Angel from the Edinburgh Fringe for their exceptional musicianship and highly individual blend, are heading to a tiny venue in Argyllshire on July 24 to keep a promise to a fan who begged them to play Carradale Village Hall when he saw them in Tobermory on Mull on their last tour.

The Carradale date falls in a schedule that includes two nights at the major Highlands and Islands festival HebCeltFest in Stornoway and city stopovers at Eden Court in Inverness and the Tolbooth in Stirling, as well as gigs in Peebles, Irvine and New Galloway.

With John Love as Jack, Christopher McKiddie as Victor and Gary Miller as Winston, the show is directed by Sheppard and produced by Boyle, who will be appearing together in their own show at C Too for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The stage show of Still Game is written by the series' creators Ford Kiernan and Greg Hemphill, and 20% of the takings from the shows on July 26 and 27 will be going, appropriately, to Age Concern Scotland.

The lead single from prolific Matt Cardle's as-yet-untitled third album is entitled Loving You and is not a cover of the song that was an early hit for Elvis Presley.

The new track, penned by Cardle himself, and on which he plays guitar and drums, was premiered on BBC Radio 2 yesterday morning by Ken Bruce and is a duet with the artist formerly known as Sporty Spice, Melanie C. The single will be released on August 18.

Yesterday's review of tenor saxophonist Bobby Wellins at Glasgow Jazz Festival was accompanied by a picture of alto saxophonist Peter King. Our apologies.
