Drummer Ken Mathieson's Classic Jazz Orchestra is planning a busy 2015 thanks to a Creative Scotland/National Lottery Touring Award.

The band, whose repertoire includes music from Jellyroll Morton to Charles Mingus by way of Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Carter, and Antônio Carlos Jobim, plays its first concert of the year at The Institute in New Lanark on Sunday, January 18 at 3pm and has gigs confirmed at Edinburgh Jazz 'n' Jive Club (January 30), Fife Jazz Festival (February 7), Hospitalfield House, Arbroath (February 28), and Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh (March 13). Further dates, including appearances at the Isle of Bute and Edinburgh jazz festivals, are expected to be announced soon.
