l SHE is the daughter of former Blue Peter presenter Janet Ellis and film and TV producer Robin Bextor and was born in London in 1979.
She appeared, aged four, on Esther Rantzen's That's Life! which at the time was produced by her father.
l Her musical career began in indie-rock band Theaudience, who released one album and three moderately successful singles in the late 1990s, before she broke through as a solo artist with her debut album Read My Lips (2001).
l Ellis-Bextor has had seven Top 10 singles, released five albums, collaborated with artists as diverse as Cathy Dennis, Calvin Harris, Sneaker Pimps, the B-52s and Ed Harcourt, and toured with Take That, the Pet Shop Boys and George Michael.
l Away from music, in 2008 she became one of the faces of British cosmetics brand Rimmel, and has appeared in Ricky Gervais's BBC comedy Life's Too Short.
l Last year she partnered Brendan Cole in Strictly Come Dancing.
l She is married to The Feeling's Richard Jones and has been known to DJ at their club nights in London.
