John Cleese is to return to the stage following this summer's Monty Python reunion - with a one-man show based around his forthcoming memoir.

The funnyman will perform at the EICC in Edinburgh on December 13 as part of an 11 date tour following publication of his book So, Anyway ... which comes out on October 9.

He and the rest of the Python team gave a series of sell-out appearances at London's O2 Arena during the summer, performing together for the first time in three decades.

Cleese is also lining up a series of signing sessions at bookshops during his So, Anyway... tour. He will launch the book with an appearance at the Waterstones store in Piccadilly on the day it hits shelves.

Publishers say his book will include his thoughts on "topics as diverse as the nature of comedy, the relative merits of cricket and waterskiing, and the importance of knowing the dates of all the kings and queens of England".
