Veteran broadcaster Sir Terry Wogan is adding another string to his bow and releasing his fiction debut - an as yet untitled collection of short stories.
Sir Terry, who attracted an audience of more than eight million to his Radio 2 show, became one of the country's most popular broadcasters in a long career that saw him present a hugely successful TV chat show and guide the nation through the Eurovision Song Contest for many years.
Trisha Jackson, editorial director at Pan Macmillan, said: "I've been a huge fan of Terry's for many years and these incredibly well-observed stories convey the warmth and humour the British public associate with him. Terry is undoubtedly one of the UK's best-loved personalities."
Sir Terry, who continues to host TV charity extravaganza Children in Need, said: "I'm delighted to follow the merry, merry pipes of Pan."
He has written several books including volumes of memoirs called Is It Me? and Mustn't Grumble.
The new book will be published in autumn.
