Filmmaker Woody Allen has signed up to make his first TV series, in a deal with the studio arm of internet giant Amazon.
The veteran director and scriptwriter, 79, will direct and pen the new series of half-hour episodes.
The Oscar-winner joked that he had no idea what his as-yet-untitled series would be about.
"I don't know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I'm not sure where to begin", he said.
"My guess is that Roy Price (vice president of Amazon Studios) will regret this."
Fans will be able to watch the series on Prime Instant Video in the UK, US and Germany.
The untitled Woody Allen project is expected to air in 2016.
Price said in a statement: "Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it's an honour to be working with him on his first television series.
"From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn't be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year."
The announcement came after Amazon Studios' new comedy series Transparent won two Golden Globes earlier this week.
