Anderson's Butterfly Kiss takes to Ayr
THE latest of writer/musician/performer Dave Anderson's mini-musicals to have a life beyond A Play, A Pie, and A Pint at Oran Mor, Butterfly Kiss, arrives at Ayr Gaiety Theatre on Wednesday April 2. The show should have special resonance there, as the character played by Anderson himself, identified only as "The Man", reminisces about trips "doon the watter" from his Glasgow home as the post-war '50s became the swinging '60s. When it premiered at Oran Mor in April last year, The Herald review praised an "enjoyable and entertaining seaside postcard snapshot of past times and young love".

Tom Jones tale heads on tour
DUNDEE'S Gardyne Theatre has the exclusive Scottish dates for TOM: A Story of Tom Jones, which opened in the singer's hometown of Pontypridd on St David's Day, March 1, 49 years to the day since It's Not Unusual went to Number 1 in the charts. The show is from the same team as created Jackie, The Musical - based on the magazine produced by Dundee publisher DC Thomson - writer Mike James, director Geinor Styles and musical director Ben Goddard, and is produced by Welsh company Theatr na nÓg, where Styles is artistic director. The show has a live band on stage and tells the story of the singer's early years in the pubs and clubs of South Wales, up to his big break in 1965. It is at the Gardyne from Wednesday to Saturday next week.

Wit and wisdom from Neason
SINGER and actress Terry Neason brings her Celtic Kisses, Slaps 'n' Tickles show to the CCA in Glasgow on Sunday evening. Neason, who has portrayed Edith Piaf in Pam Gems's play at Glasgow Kings and played the lead in Jacque Brel's Alive and Well and Living in Paris at the Gate Theatre, Dublin, has also been a Herald Angel winner for her show Love Bites! at the Edinburgh Fringe.
"A roller-coaster collection of Celtic and country songs, poems, wit and wisdom," is promised.
