Sarah Jessica Parker has admitted a return to Sex And The City is a “very nice idea”, but she wants to make sure it would be worth it for the show’s devoted fans.

The actress is still best known for her role as fashion-loving sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw in the TV series and two subsequent movies – and still has not ruled out a third outing.

She told the Radio Times: “We always feel honour-bound to those women who gave their dollars not just to pay for movie tickets, but also all those years on HBO. So we feel it better be worth it again to ask for anybody’s time and money.

“For all of us to be together again and shoot on the streets of New York is a very nice idea. But no matter how much people may or may not want us to do it, we want to be considerate of that choice.”

Sarah, 51, will next be seen back on TV in Divorce, in which she and Thomas Haden Church play a married couple in the process of separating.

Sarah serves as a producer on the series, which was written by Catastrophe star Sharon Horgan, and said she embraced the differences between her role of Frances and that of Carrie Bradshaw.

She described the characters as “strikingly different” in terms of life choices, surroundings and financial situations – as well as in their relationships with men and clothing.

She added: “But we didn’t do that to be different. And I recognise that I look like me! And I still mostly walk like me. So that person walks like Carrie. But she also walks like Frances.

“The storytelling is very different. There’s not the same kind of buoyancy in this show; the frivolity that was innate to Sex And The City does not exist here.”
