Robin Morgan talks about his new show,  Free Man.

Tell us about your Fringe show

My show is all about a proposal. All I hoped was that she'd say 'yes'. That didn't happen. It's one big story, as well as being about conformity and my generation vs. my parents'.

How does it feel to be playing the Fringe for the first time?

I'm so excited to be doing my first hour. I did half an hour last year (Coward's Hour), which I think gave me a good experience of the month and how to pace it. But my first proper show - can't wait.

Live act most looking forward to seeing at Fringe?

Tricky one. Probably Acaster.

If you were not a performer/comedian what would you be doing?

Probably trying to find some Icelandic heritage and be the reserve defensive midfielder for their national football team.

How do you combat pre-gig nerves?

I try and remind myself to have fun on stage. The more fun I have (or look like I'm having), the more the audience get out of it. In theory.

Worst on stage experience?

Performing my first paid 20 minute gig at a rowdy club in Central London. It was 80% stag do's. Including one on the front row. I heard the best man apologise to the stag for my performance ruining his weekend. Quite funny really.

How do you recover from a hefty heckle? Do you have a set of stock replies?

I've never written a stock reply. I do a lot of compering, and am usually pretty decent at replying in the moment. If it's something genuinely hilarious, I let them have it. Though the laugh happened when I was on stage, so technically it's mine.

What do you love about Scotland?

The history. The landscape. The free prescriptions.

What do you like about Edinburgh?

The affordable rent in August.

What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?

I'm from Wales. So probably enjoyed some of those free prescriptions that you have too. I've been on the pill for four years. It's nice to regulate.

Who’s your favourite Scottish comedian?

Mark Nelson is ace. I gigged with Sloss recently at Cardiff Glee and he was superb. There's so many.

Favourite joke?

One of the many you will hear at Robin Morgan: Free Man - Just the Tonic Caves.

Favourite Scottish food/drink?

One of the many you will have at Robin Mor - oh, sorry. Gotta be Irn Bru hasn't it. They used to give cans of it out on Megabus Golds. What a treat.

Robin Morgan: Free Man is on at Just The Tonic at The Caves until August 28, 8.00pm. For tickets visit www.edfringe.com
