WITH a revival of Chistopher Hampton's version of French playwright Yasmina Reza's Art starring Rufus Sewell currently packing them in at the Old Vic, Glasgow's Tron Theatre has chosen an auspicious time to stage the Reza/Hampton God of Carnage. The winner of both Tony and Olivier awards, the play, about two middle-class couples dealing with a fight between their respective young sons, became a Roman Polanski film, Carnage, with Kate Winslet and Jodie Foster.
Gareth Nicholls directs this new revival, with Colin McCredie, Anita Vettesse, Richard Conlon and Lorraine McIntosh in the cast. It opens on Thursday March 9 and runs to Saturday March 25.

AUSTRALIAN jazz trio Trichotomy play the Jazz Bar in Edinburgh on February 8, the sole Scottish date on a UK tour to mark the release of their new album, Known-Unknown. Comprising pianist Sean Foran, bassist Samuel Vincent and drummer John Parker, the group has a style that draws on influences from classical music, European folk traditions, rock and jazz and has collaborated with a range of musicians and ensembles including Queensland Symphony Orchestra and former Loose Tubes saxophonist Julian Arguelles, with whom they toured Australia and performed a commissioned work for Brisbane International Jazz Festival. Known-Unknown is their fifth album and their first to feature their recent incorporation of electronic manipulation of acoustic sounds.

A NEW exhibition by Fife-resident Irish artist Ian Healy opens at Edinburgh's Patriothall Gallery on Saturday. Entitled In The Pink, it comprises 20 works on paper that attempts to "circumnavigate the sense of being human." The artist promises an examination of "the idiosyncrasies, absurdness and comedy of life, intertwined with a sense of uneasiness and fragility."
Healy has had residencies as an artist in Spain and Lithuania and is previously known for his studies of dogs as well as portraiture. The Stockbridge show rund to February 12.

CHART-TOPPER of 1983 Howard Jones has recently enjoyed a revival of interest after his debut single, New Song, featured prominently in television and boxed set hit series Breaking Bad. He visits Glasgow's Oran Mor for the sole Scottish date on his March solo tour on Sunday March 26. An intimate evening of songs and stories is promised.
