WOOD Group has won a £36m contract from BP for work on the giant Shah Deniz gas field in the Caspian Sea in Azerbaijan.
The Aberdeen-based oil services firm, which recently highlighted strong subsea activity in the Caspian, will complete subsea engineering work on stage 2 of Shah Deniz, which BP says is one of the largest gas developments in the world. Wood Group has been working with BP on Shah Deniz since 2008. The company announced yesterday that Steve Knowles, president of its Wood Group Mustang arm, had sold shares in the group worth £345,000. Mr Knowles sold 43,788 shares at 789p. He retains 20,034 shares. Separately, Plexus Holdings, the oil and gas well technology firm also based in Aberdeen, said it had won an additional £1.4m contract from Maersk Oil.
