THE chairman of advertising agency trade association the IPA for Scotland has called for greater support from government to help promote the sector.

In a submission to the Scottish Affairs Committee inquiry into the Creative Industries in Scotland Brian Coane calls for a new government agency to be formed to help represent the industry.

He believes this would fuel growth and move on from the "ad-hoc and reactive" support which has traditionally been available.

Mr Coane, also a partner at The Leith Agency, said: "The government should be looking to champion the advertising industry in Scotland as a major success.

"It should do everything it can to support it and help it grow, enabling not just creativity to flourish in Scotland, but businesses across all sectors. To make this happen we need a single voice that brings clarity and clear leadership.”
