WALLACES TCB, the drinks wholesale arm of Tennent Caledonian Breweries, has announced a key hire to its leadership team.

Alan Hay will join the Glasgow-based wholesaler as on-trade sales director in February.

He has been recruited from Irn-Bru maker AG Barr, where he has been UK trading controller for on-trade and foodservice for the last eight years.

Mr Hay has previously held senior sales roles with Coca-Cola Enterprises, and Procter & Gamble.

The move comes after Wallaces TCB parted company with previous on-trade sales director Matt Munro earlier this month. Mr Munro was replaced on an interim basis by Tennent's director John Gilligan, who also sites on the board at Rangers. Mr Gilligan will step back from leading the Wallaces' sales team when Mr Hay arrives.

Alastair Campbell, managing director of Wallaces TCB, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Alan to the business.

"He has an impressive track record in sales, having been accountable for iconic brands, successful teams and sustainable growth for a number of market leaders.

"Alan will be a real asset to our leadership team as we deliver our brand led, multi beverage offer to support the Scottish on-trade.”

Mr Hay said: “WallacesTCB’s commitment to delivering exceptional service and great value makes them the perfect match for me.

"To represent such an iconic Scottish company with an unrivalled portfolio brands is a genuine privilege. I look forward to the challenge ahead and to supporting our customers across Scotland.”
