Robertson has been chosen as preferred developer for a £40million development of flats, office space and hotel next to the new V&A Museum in Dundee.

Located opposite the new entrance to Dundee’s train station, the development will see the construction of 67 flats for the private rented sector, 50,000sq ft of office space and a 120-bed hotel aimed at the upper end of the visitor market.

Derek Shewan, chief operating officer at Robertson said: “The team behind the Waterfront is ambitious and enthusiastic about this project and we are delighted to be working with them. We are looking forward to delivering something the whole of Scotland can be proud of.”

The residential element of the development will include one, two and three bedroom flats, the four floors of Grade A office space could accommodate back-office, technology, professional services, financial services, public sector organisations or possible call centre users, while the hotel will help meet the forecast demand for accommodation in the Waterfront area.

Dundee City Council city development convener Councillor Will Dawson said: “We expect more private investment in the Waterfront to emerge as the surge in interest we are currently seeing from developers begins to bear fruit. “

Mike Galloway, the council’s executive director of city development, said: “Most of the land in the central Waterfront is owned by Dundee City Council, so we can work in partnership with investors and take a long-term approach to development. We are also open to joint ventures so would encourage more businesses and entrepreneurs to contact us with their concepts.”
