ANDY Lothian, chief executive of training firm Insights Learning and Development has been named EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2016 Scotland overall winner.

Mr Lothian founded the people development firm in Dundee 23 years ago with his father. The business has grown become a global market leader recording £15 million in revenue.

After fending off competition from 28 other Scottish business leaders, Mr Lothian heads to London for the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year 2016 UK final, along with the seven other Scotland finalists whose entrepreneurial achievements were also recognised at the regional awards.

These include: Timothy Cornelius at Atlantis Resources; Amy Livingstone and Julie Wilson at Cheeky Chompers; Alastair Atkinson at DySIS Medical, Chris Gauld at Spark Energy; Nigel Chadwick at Stream Technologies; Douglas Samuel at The Spartans Community Football Academy and Dr Mick Jackson founder at WildHearts Group.

An additional Chairman’s Special Award was presented to Moray-based Richard Forsyth, chairman at Forsyths, who as the third generation of the family has grown the revenue of the business by 200 per cent.
