THE chief executive of Edinburgh-based Capital Credit Union (CCU) has called on the political elite to help boost the number of people saving.
Marlene Shiels said that 40 per cent of people in Scotland have less than £500 set aside to cover unexpected bills, adding that she would like CCU’s 388,000 membership double by 2020.
