Bruichladdich owner Remy Cointreau has grown operating profit to €124 million from €107m for the six months to September 30.

Revenue for the period was up €13m to €513m, which the French company said illustrated the combined effect of steady growth in premium categories, the “still outstanding” performance of the US market and a return to growth in China.

The company’s Islay Spirits business, which includes Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte, and Octomore whisky, and The Botanist gin recorded double-digit growth.

This is part of the liqueurs and spirts business, which grew sales by 5.1 per cent to €135m.

Remy said the 5.1 per cent increase in sales of its flagship Remy Martin Cognac business was as a result of strong performances in North America and China.
