FISH farmer Marine Harvest produced 12,000 tonnes in Scotland in the fourth quarter of 2016, achieving underlying earnings per kilogram of €1.85. Overall tonnage for the quarter was 100,000, in line with expectations.

Overall earnings before interest and tax is €257 million, up from €90m in Q4 2015.

The Norwegian company, which operates 49 sea farms off the west-coast of Scotland in addition to a processing plant in Fort William, has seen its harvests impacted by sea lice issues, but the weakness of the pound relative to the Norwegian Krone has benefited the group.
