ROGER White, chief executive of Irn-Bru manufacturer AG Barr, saw his annual remuneration climb to £915,000 from £839,000, during a year in which the company unveiled plans for about 90 job cuts, writes Ian McConnell.

The rise in remuneration was driven by the award of a £102,000 annual bonus for the year to January 28, 2017. Mr White received no annual bonus for the prior financial year.

Mr White’s remuneration for the year to January 28 comprised £443,000 in salary, £30,000 of benefits, the £102,000 annual bonus, long-term incentives of £183,000, and pension benefits of £157,000.

AG Barr achieved a 4.4 per cent rise in underlying pre-tax profits to £43.1m during the year to January 28 on the back of a 0.6 per cent dip in revenue to £257.1m. Earnings per share rose by 3.9 per cent to 30.78p.
