ATOS has won a contract to provide IT services to Historic Scotland in a deal which industry sources suggested would be worth around seven figures.

Neither party wanted to comment on the value of the three-year deal which involves providing service desk, desktop and data centre services plus the operation of a new visitor attraction system.

The work covers more than 70 locations, including Edinburgh Castle and Linlithgow Palace.

Gavin Thomson, senior vice-president for Atos in Scotland, said: "This contract win is incredibly good news for our business growth in Scotland."

Atos, which has its Scottish headquarters in Livingston, West Lothian, said Historic Scotland will start using the new services from this summer.
