Scotland's oldest auction house has recorded a retained profit of £180,157 according to accounts filed at Companies House.

Lyon & Turnbull, founded in 1826, was acquired by a group of auctioneers in 1999 in a deal supported by merchant banker Sir Angus Grossart.

The financial report for the 12 months to July 31, 2012, shows cash holdings at the Edinburgh company increased from £458,964 to more than £1 million with net assets rising from £1.79m to £1.97m.
