CLARK Contracts, the Paisley-based construction, refurbishment and maintenance firm, has secured a package of contracts worth more than £6.5 million.

It will be paid £1.45m to refurbish an office at Strathclyde Passenger Transport's Broomloan depot in Govan, Glasgow. Another deal is a £1m refurbishment and relocation contract from IBM.

Gordon Cunningham, managing director of Clark, said: "It's a great start to the summer with a healthy mix of new contracts, some from previous customers and some new.

"Although trading conditions in the sector remain challenging, we are encouraged by the spread of new business from across the private, public, community and education sectors and we very much hope this is a positive sign of a sustainable upturn in prospects for the construction sector generally."
