VMG Foods expects to double its turnover and create 25 jobs after winning work with large retailers.

The Glasgow company's Mr Moretti branded Pizza Stix products – frozen fingers of pizza – are launching in Asda and Nisa.

Other multiple retailers are also going to be stocking similar products under their own labels.

A further range of microwaveable pizzas is also being rolled out in Nisa stores.

Managing director Cameron Brown said the orders should see VMG's turnover rise from £2.5 million to £6m and help it expand the workforce from 40 to 65.

VMG, which has been financially backed by Royal Bank of Scotland and Scottish Enterprise for brand and product development, uses a number of local suppliers.

Those include Glasgow agency VisualizeThis for packaging design, Kinpac for the actual packets and Carr's Flour Hutchisons in Kirkcaldy for ingredients.

Mr Brown added: "We are delighted to have achieved these major contracts, which is an important landmark in the development of VMG Foods.

"A crucial element to our success has been working closely with local companies in the development of these pizzas."

VMG also makes speciality bread, mini bagels, mini burger buns, Halal pizza and gluten free pizza.
