TWO west of Scotland retailers are linking up to open a jointly branded convenience store in Glasgow later this year.

In a moved billed as an innovation in the convenience retailing sector, JW Filshill, the wholesaler and retailer behind the Keystore fascia, and Clydebank Co-operative Society will operate the store in Knightswood under dual branding.

Plans for the store, which previously traded under the Spar fascia, were unveiled by Robert Sider, chief executive of the Clydebank Co-operative Society, in a presentation to the Scottish Wholesale Association. He said: "We see this development very much as evolution within our food business and, indeed, co-operative circles."

Filshill MD Simon Hannah called the move "exciting".
