An Edinburgh-based fantasy sports provider has raised $275 million (£176.5m) from investors including private equity giant KKR, Google Capital and Time Warner Investments.

Fast-growing technology firm FanDuel, which develops fantasy leagues for American sports, will use the funding to drive customer numbers in the US and Canada, develop new products and build its management team.

FanDuel, led by Northern Ireland-born Nigel Eccles, has now raised a total of $363m in its latest fundraising round, which has also seen investment from Turner Sports and NFL and NBA team owners.

The latest deal comes shortly after the firm revealed it signed a deal to open a new office in Glasgow, where it hopes to employ 200 software specialists.
