A NEW industrial recycling business expects to create at least 30 jobs over the next two years.
Hunter Enviromental has spent £1.1 million on a 27-acre site at Bishopbriggs and has already hired six staff.
The company was set up by George Beattie, who also runs Kilsyth-based Hunter Demolition, and he expects to invest more than £3m on equipment and people in the next few years.
Mr Beattie believes the business will employ 20 people at the end of its first year, rising to 30 in the following 12 months.
He said: "We were already doing some recycling through our demolition business and just thought it was a good area to get into.
"We are already getting other contractors using it and things are looking good. We are designing a picking station which will take out all the timber and plastics along the line.
"We haven't set any great targets revenue-wise in the first year but expect it to be about £1m and increasing to £5m-£6m a few years from now."
Mr Beattie has owned Hunter Demolition, which employs 90 people, for 10 years and been involved in that industry for more than three decades.
Hunter Enviromental will now handle all recycling services for its sister company's demolition projects.
NatWest provided funding of £735,000 to help in buying the yard for the new business.
