NOMINATIONS are now open for The Inspiring City Awards where previous winners include Lord Smith of Kelvin and life sciences entrepreneur Rabinder Buttar.

The event, organised by The Herald and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce in association with the People Make Glasgow brand, is now in its third year.

Along with categories for business and leadership there are prizes in areas such as environment, corporate social responsibility, arts and culture, education and sport.

Anna Doran, general manager for Anglo-Scottish services at awards sponsor Virgin Trains, said: "There's so many great things going on in Glasgow at the moment, we need an event like this to celebrate all the amazing people who are making it happen and we're proud to play our part in supporting this. Virgin Trains has served Glasgow since 1997 and we have a really strong relationship with the city which goes from strength to strength."

Entry is free and nominations can be made at www.herald-events.com/inspiringcity or by contacting Lyndsay Wilson on 0141 302 7407.
