Jewellery firm scores deal with Fulham for football collection

A GLASGOW jeweller known for its range of football team collections has announced its first deal outside of Scotland.

The Diamond Studio, located on Royal Exchange Square, was selected to design and launch a new quality line for Championship side Fulham FC.

It is the first time the company has ventured across the border, having previously produced collections for Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen. Though not an exclusive football jewellery firm, it also has an exclusive licence to design Champions League items.

Summera Shaheen, managing director of the Diamond Studio, said the Fulham collection had already been in production for several months in order to be ready for the new season.

She said: "It's been a long process but in that time we feel like we've gotten to know the club.

"They were bought over shortly after our first meeting there, and that has kind of delayed things, but we've continued to work together on the collection.

"They're such a family club," she said. "They are so friendly and made us feel very welcome there. They said they really wanted us to do the first range for a Premiership team, and even though they dropped out of the top league, there was no way we would walk away from them.

"The whole process has made us feel like a part of the club and we'd like to be alongside them when they get promoted back up."

The Diamond Studio has already had some success in its football collections north of the border. The Spirit of '72 Rangers FC collection has been shipped across the UK with occasional orders being place from Australia and South Korea. Its DaMarcus collection, for former Rangers and current USA player DaMarcus Beasley, has already proven a hit with customers in America, South Africa and Mexico. Likewise, the studio's Celtic-themed Bhoys Collection has received a lot interest, particularly in Ireland, while the more recent Northern Lights range for Aberdeen has started to garner support.

Ms Shaheen believes it is the attention to detail her firm has which gives the collections a real kinship with their respective clubs. She said: "Each club is so different; they all have their own history and a completely different group of supporters.

"We like to take our time to get to know the club and their fans so we can design a collection that is right for them. No other company really offers any like this and we are proud to help represent the clubs we are working with.

"We're also able to customise a piece of jewellery for our customers, so long as the club approves the design."

She added: "In the future, we hope to branch out into other English clubs, but we want to make sure we can provide the best range for Fulham FC before then."
