RENEWABLE energy technology firm Gamesa has sold a wind farm site in Scotland to infrastructure investor John Laing for an undisclosed sum.

The 15.3 megawatt development at Carscreugh in Dumfries and Galloway is due to have its 18 turbines installed by the end of this year and is expected to be commissioned in the first quarter of 2014.

The facility is projected to be able to provide enough power for more than 9500 homes.

Under the terms of the deal Gamesa will carry out operations and maintenance on the wind farm for 10 years.

Ross McArthur, managing director of renewable energy for John Laing, said: "We are delighted to have completed the acquisition of Carscreugh Wind Farm from Gamesa.

"The facility is John Laing's fourth investment in the onshore wind sector since our initial investment in August 2012, further reinforcing John Laing's position in the renewable energy market."

Scottish Gas owner Centrica recently sold its 50% stake in the 72 megawatt Braes of Doune wind farm to Hermes GPE Infrastructure Fund for £59 million.

Earlier this year SSE confirmed it was selling four wind farms, including its stake in Braes of Doune, for £140m.
