JOHNSTON Press has said talks are at an "advanced stage" over the sale of its 14 regional newspapers in the Republic of Ireland for €8.5 million (£7m).
The statement came after reports said The Scotsman owner had lined up Mediaforce as a buyer for the titles, which include the Leinster Leader and the Donegal Democrat.
