THE Law Society of Scotland has appointed Tilney Bestinvest as its official partner for investment management and financial advice.

The industry body said Tilney will be available to support solicitors whose clients are seeking additional financial information.

Lorna Jack, chief executive of the Law Society of Scotland, said: "Professional financial advice for clients has become an increasingly important area of work for solicitors as people seek to protect, grow and ultimately pass on their assets."

Paul Frame, managing director at Tilney Bestinvest said: "We aim to support the Law Society and its membership by offering additional expert resources on the investment and financial planning matters that will benefit solicitors' clients."

In February the Law Society said it had partnered with specialist mutual financier Wesleyan to offer advice to smaller high street firms and sole practitioners.
