OFFSHORE systems supplier MacArtney UK has seen its turnover rise by 18 per cent in the year ending September 30 to reach what it described as a "record-breaking" £18.2 million.

David Buchan, managing director of the business, based in Dyce, Aberdeen, said the figure was achieved "during a period when we hear much talk in the industry of employee cutbacks, project delays and reduced investment".

He added: "Our latest financial results are testament to the professionalism of our talented and dedicated staff." The company has 52 employees and it is located near Aberdeen Airport, having moved to a custom-built facility in 2009.

It works in all marine market sectors and produces offshore marine equipment, from electric winches, cables and connectors to underwater cameras, slip-rings and electronics.

Established in 1999, the firm's turnover has grown 11-fold since it started out in Aberdeen, and earlier this year it noted sales of £3.5m in July.

It also said the results to September mark a "successful" year for the company, the UK unit of Danish-headquartered MacArtney Group and currently the largest group operation based outside the Scandinavian country. MacArtney UK said its parent company also had a record year with turnover reaching the equivalent of about £65 million.

Mr Buchan also said: "MacArtney UK's year has been a successful one and we look forward to continuing this trend as we move into 2015." He said the business is already looking ahead to its next financial year, and was 58 per cent above its budget figure for the first month of its full 2015 year, which "gives us great confidence moving forward".
