FRONTIER IP, the intellectual property commercialisation specialist, has provided £500,000 of backing for PulsiV, the Plymouth University spin-out, writes Scott Wright.

Edinburgh-based Frontier said the fundraiser values the solar company at £5 million, and lifts the value of its 18.9 per cent stake in PulsiV Solar to more than £870,000.

PulsiV Solar has developed technology believed to significantly improve the energy efficiency of photovoltaic solar panels.

Frontier chief executive Neil Crabb said: "The technology being developed by our portfolio company PulsiV Solar, has the potential to drive significant gains in the energy efficiency of solar panels and other photovoltaic systems. We have been delighted to assist with the Company's first funding round and will continue to deploy our energy sector experience to take this ground-breaking technology to market."
