THE AMOUNT of profit awarded to Burness Paull’s highest-earning partner was almost £100,000 lower in the year to July 2016 than in the previous year.

The law firm, which has offices in Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh, saw turnover rise by four per cent to £53.3 million and profits fall by three per cent to £22.5m during the year.

While the average profit share paid to partners fell by six per cent, from £412,500 to £387,900, the payment made to the partner with the highest share of profits fell by 13 per cent, from £750,500 to £653,000.

In a note to the firm’s accounts, chairman Philip Rodney said the 2015/16 year had been one of “opportunity and challenge”.

He added that the downturn in Aberdeen and the Brexit vote had impacted on the firm.
